Jackets, Knitwear & Blouses : Cataloging Catalogs MW F/W 1947/48

Some more pages from the Fall/Winter 1947/1948 Montgomery Wards catalog! To say I would like to order a dozen sweaters and one of each item from page 144 would be a vast understatement. I want that leather jacket, I want it in both colors, I need a time machine and lots of '47 dollar you guys. I hope you enjoy these!

Fabrics : Cataloging Catalogs MW S/S 1950

For the reproduction seamstresses out there, here are the fabrics available to Ward's customers for Spring/Summer 1950! I always love these pages and descriptions since it can be hard to decide on fabrics for the most authentic look when you are new to vintage style sewing. I only wish, as ever, that I could order up some of these fabrics for myself!

Enjoy!

Scarves & Beautiful Shoes : Cataloging Catalogs MW S/S 1950

I know if any of you love shoes the way I do, you are going to be crazy about several pairs from these Montgomery Wards catalog pages from Sping/Summer 1950! So many perfect options for a spring and summer wardrobe, it's just too bad we can't all place an order. I particularly would like the "pepper green" heels with the "graceful leaf applique on vamp" and the multicolored sandals in cotton twill.

I hope you all enjoy these pages! I just have a few more from this 1950 catalog (the fabrics/textiles section!) and then this catalog will officially be as scanned as I plan on doing. When I scan these I of course focus on the women's fashions and fabrics, but these catalogs have it all, menswear, children's clothes, farm equipment, car parts, seeds, furniture, you name it. As the fashion matters most to me, and scanning these is a process on my little scanner, I have no plans to scan an entire catalog any time soon. I may put a few of the catalogs that I have finished with up for sale on Etsy sometime. They really are a fun resource to have, but I'm just here for the clothes if we're honest eh?

Simplicity Prevue July 1943 - Scans

While it may be winter, we could all probably use a little summery cheerful color right about now. So let's dream of warmer days and admire a few 1940's styles from Simplicity Prevue from July 1943...

Suits, Coats, Bags - Cataloging Catalogs MW S/S 1950

Now these may be spring/summer suits technically, but they are still both warm enough and cute enough for fall too everyone! Also, check out the colorful coats for some fun cold weather ideas. Finally we finish out today's pages with some most excellent handbags that I would very much like to order! I'll be switching back to the 1940's and a fall/winter catalog again next time on this series, so these will be the last s/s 1950 pages for a little while :)

I hope you are all having a good week. I've got an awful feeling, since I'm super busy this week (and next week too) while also getting no work done, that I am going to blink and it will be Christmas already. This is not a nice feeling! Not helped along by visiting Ikea today where they already had holiday decorations for sale!!! Not that I wouldn't mind finding some of these Montgomery Wards goodies from 1950 under the family tree...

Cataloging Catalogs: MW Spring/Summer 1950 Sportswear

Finally I've got some more Montgomery Wards pages for you all! Today it's more pages from the Spring/Summer 1950 catalog with Active Sportwear to start. A selection of skirts, blouses, and even some swimsuits, though it's a bit late in the year for those!

I hope you enjoy these pages, and as always feel free to pin them, save them, or distribute them as you please. I just want to make these catalogs an open resource for all us vintage lovers :)

Cataloging Catalogs: MW Spring/Summer 1950 Hats

For some reason there were less hat pages than usual in the Montgomery Ward Spring Summer 1950 catalog. Were ladies going bare headed more often already in 1950? I can't say, but I'd happily add some of these hats into my collection even now in heartbeat!

I have been slacking with my scanning lately, do forgive me. There aren't many pages left in this particular catalog to show you all actually. Next up we have sportswear, then we'll go through the shoes and accessories, then finish this particular catalog with the fabrics on offer. I did just pick up another "new" catalog, this time a 1949/1950 fall/winter catalog, so the season just before this one! It's about time to switch back over to a fall/winter catalog anyhow, so I'm sure you will be seeing more from Ward's and I soon!

Cataloging Catalogs: Spring/Summer 1950 (Montgomery Ward's)

More dresses today, some maternity dresses even, and house dresses for the "fastidious homemaker". I find "house frocks" such and odd concept really, because it always seems to me they are just as cute as the "real" dresses to be worn out and about! Plus, I don't care if it's 1950 or 2018, I'm not gonna look cute when I'm cleaning the house, I'm just not. Twas' a different time indeed.

It took me ages to scan these pages and stitch them together today because I kept getting distracted and typing a few lines of dialog that came to me, or outlining the general plot line for a few chapters, or thinking of how I could keep that one character involved and jotting that down, all in an open Word document I keep by my side (as it were) like a notepad. My brain couldn't focus! Which doesn't mean these dresses aren't delightful of course, but obviously I need to go work on writing instead for the rest of the night. Too many interests, too many projects, not enough time. Not a bad problem to have really :)

Cataloging Catalogs: Spring/Summer 1950 (Montgomery Ward's)

More 1950's dresses you ask? Why of course, I am happy to oblige.

Pages again from the Spring Summer 1950 Montgomery Wards catalog. Also, once again, I'd like one of most of these please! Sadly I haven't much else to say today, so enjoy and thanks as always for stopping by <3

Cataloging Catalogs: Spring/Summer 1950 (Montgomery Ward's)

A lot of us vintage loving gals admire both the 1940's and the 1950's styles, and it really does seem like many of these dresses from Spring/Summer 1950 really do blend the two eras in a great way!

I am seriously considering choosing one Ward's dress from one of the catalog pages I've shared to recreate and do an exact repro. What do you think? The biggest trouble will be finding a suitable fabric I think, since nice cottons and rayons are so much harder to find in this day and age. I'm looking through them now to decide which to replicate, but goodness is it hard to choose!

Cataloging Catalogs: Spring/Summer 1950! (Montgomery Ward's)

So, here's the deal, I decided we could take a break from the 1947/1948 catalog and jump into a different catalog for spring and summer. We can finish the other Fall catalog in Fall right? Yes. Today we begin diving into the Spring Summer 1950 Montgomery Wards catalog instead!

These dresses are ridiculously good anyway, I was oohing and aahing over them as I scanned these pages. For the first time I remembered to scan the front and back covers for you all as well, so here is the front...

...and then this next page is the back cover below. Aren't these just the dreamiest dresses?! Smart street cottons indeed.

So I hope you enjoy this foray in spring 1950, as always, personally I want to order one of everything!

Cataloging Catalogs: Ward's Fall/Winter 1947-1948, Hats!

We have arrived at the first few pages of accessories from the 1947/1948 Fall Winter Montgomery Wards Catalog! There are some truly spectacular hats here for your browsing pleasure, even if we are now transitioning into spring instead. What do you all think, should I switch to one of my Spring/Summer catalogs for a while and resume scanning this one in the Fall? I also do have a few 1950's catalogs too, so would you like to see more 1940's catalogs or switch to a 1950's one for a while? Let me know!

Sadly it was another glamour-less weekend for me, as I ended up with an eye irritation that has me looking a bit lopsided and unable to wear eye-makeup for another few days. It was such a beautiful day outside here today too, I would have loved to have gotten dressed up and jaunted down to my favorite spot in Denver (the botanical gardens) to enjoy the first blooms and the sun. Hopefully I can do just that next weekend, but with the way my luck has been going this past week I shouldn't jinx it!!

Cataloging Catalogs: Ward's Fall/Winter 1947-1948, Even More Dresses!

Sometimes in the middle of scanning all of these pages the dresses start to look very similar. Well, truth be told, many of these dresses are very similar, but the first few pages of today's run actually have some real gems that I would love to replicate for my closet! I am not a huge fan of a shirt dress/house dress myself, just because I feel they make me look super matronly for whatever reason, but the different style lines and pretty geometric patterns of the other dresses here are right up my alley!

I promise I'll be back with more than inspiration images soon, I've been both busy writing and waiting out my awkward in-between-hair-color and in-between-weather situations! There is an end in sight for all of those issues, so you will see more of me soon ;)
