Autumn Aspirations

Just a few snaps of an outfit I wore back in October to visit the Denver Botanical Gardens with my parents. This dress is a favorite and must get worn at least once every autumn, becuase this print is the beeeeest ever. I paired it with a striped plasticflex handbag, green pumps from American Duchess, and some antique brass lantern charm earrings. 

Wishing everyone a happy December! I'm busy as ever and moving slower than usual too, as my mind seems to want to shut off and hibernate until the end of the year, but it just won't do. I simply must cut out my 1890's bodice tonight!! 

Plaid in the Past

Just a few more photos from my fall day trip into the foothills. I made this plaid dress for a video on Patreon this last season and this fabric has been in my stash for YEARS, so I was really glad to finally use it. This dress is rather pink for me, which is a color I don't normally wear, but I felt this one was rich enough I could get away with it blended with the black and blue in the tartan pattern. Styling it with black helps it feel more "me" too of course.

I hope you are all staying safe and keeping well as we move into winter. I think I'm going into full hibernation mode, but I'm hoping by the time winter ends there could be even better vaccine news on the horizon. Be careful out there and take care of yourself in this unending strange time!

Above The Woods

This brown dress has been such a reliable piece in both autumn and winter for me over the last few years. I need to make another in black, these sleeves are just too fun to wear and I don't have a black wool dress in my wardrobe for some absurd reason!

This time I paired the cozy woolen dress with coordinating brown "crocodile" accessories, having recently snatched up this handbag on Etsy for just $12 to wear with my much loved pumps from Remix Vintage Shoes. A matching belt, also found on Etsy a few years back, and some antique brass toned jewelry finished the ensemble. I pulled the brassy yellow to add golden tan gloves too for the chillier elevations.

These photos were shot in Estes Park Colorado and my traveling companion (my mom) and I hiked up a little hill to some odd "ruins" to try and snap some photos after lunch as a local restaurant. It was too nice a day for photography really, I prefer some cloud cover! Then it was time for a jaunt into the very quaint and super local...Starbucks...for some fuel to continue on our way to driving the scenic Peak to Peak highway. We usually drive Guanella pass this time of year, and I have to say, Guanella is a much better drive! More places to stop (for outfit photo shoots, what? Isn't that why everyone else goes to the mountains?) with golden aspens and epic waterfalls, and a nice above-the-tree-line tundra summit. One never knows if another route may be better until they try it I suppose, but I hope to me back to Guanella next year :)

I hope you're all well as fall is now in full swing. I've been having a bit of a rough one so far, finding I am over scheduling and over working myself as usual, but with some new added stressors too that certainly aren't helping! I even tried the much publicized remedy here in Colorado, CBD oil, to try and help me get to sleep easier but found it didn't work for me. Hopefully once I'm done building my new backdrop set for YouTube I'll be able to find a few days to relax.

An Ode to Cotton Twill

Well what is this? An outfit post? From me? I know, strange. I have been so quiet here this year, turns out I just can't do it all, though I would most certainly like to.

You're not missing much honestly, I'm stuck in my yearly birthday season blues as my 28th birthday looms on the 10th just ahead. No where near my goals as usual, it's hard to stay positive.

This was the outfit I wore on father's day a few weekends back while visiting the Denver Botanic Gardens with my family. It was a very nice day, I even got a bit sunburned despite my large hat, my bad eek. At least it will be an interesting tan line on my back if it decided to say.

I made this ivory twill dress for my recent adventure style look book video, and while I do love the result, I can see that the length of the bodice needs to be taken up about a half an inch and I would change the neckline at the shoulder just a bit for the next version too. Overall it will be a fun new safari ready addition to my summer closet nonetheless. I did a lot of top stitching and extra fiddly work on this one so I am proud of that!

Adventure Style : Vintage Style for Travel, Safari, & Exploration

I present to you my favorite style in the summer time, that's right, it's adventure style! Safari style, adventure wear, whatever you call it, I call it a darn cute look. So enjoy this excess of khaki and cotton twill and I can finally move onto my next adventure! 

The script at the very beginning is from the radio loop played outside of the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland :)

It was a wild ride indeed, but the video is finally done. Two weeks of entire days spent making faux wooden crates, over $100 dollars spent on craft paint alone, four hours to film the final footage, and thirteen hours of editing and script writing, and here we are. I need a nap :)

Cold Snap

This outfit repeats many of the things I wore in last week's post, the same faux fur collar, the same clutch, but repeats are reality! I wore this all black outfit to go see the newly opened Dior exhibit down at the Denver Art Museum this past weekend. The exhibit was fabulous, and I'll have a few photos from the galleries later in the week for you, but for now I'll just say that if you are in the Denver area you need to go see it if you love fashion.

While I perhaps should have worn something more new look inspired for the Dior show, I really wanted to wear my new American Duchess Theda heels. I thought the lower heel would be perfect for a museum visit since I'd be on my feet for a few hours and they performed admirably indeed. I got these in a size 10, my usual size, and they fit perfectly. I love the feel of these shoes, the quality is just amazing, not that that is unusual for American Duchess/Royal Vintage Shoes of course, but these just really feel like brand new antique shoes-- if that makes any sense!

I have been thinking about how I want to evolve my style a bit lately, as I am soooo due for a closet clean out. Not that I'm going to become a minimalist or anything, I just want to refine what I've got and perhaps put some of my stuff into deeper storage for a while to test if I ever really reach for it anyways. What I really need to do is sell some of the vintage I have that I've bought over the last couple years that doesn't fit! That pile only gets larger, and I need funds for future tattoo plans-- wait what, did I say that...

I'm going to go try and get a bit more work done tonight before I help my mom decorate our Christmas tree. Apparently it's about to be December?
