A blouse from the 1980's to be sure, just look at those sequins! I was throwing dots of light everywhere like a human disco ball! But what are you supposed to wear during your birthday weekend? Sequins are the way to go.
A lovely friend of mine at work recently gave me a small cache of vintage clothes and this sparkling top was the one thing I'll be keeping for myself (the rest will be going up in my Etsy shop eventually!). I knew immediately how I would style it, firstly by wearing it backwards with the V neckline in the back and secondly with a black pencil skirt. So here is that exact outfit! I wore the ensemble out to dinner with my family and into the night for dessert and drinks with my brother and best girlfriend! I had a great birthday and enjoyed wearing something a bit more flashy for the occasion!
I've been a busy bee this week working on my lemon print dress and editing my book in the evenings after getting home from my day job. I never have enough time for all of my creative endeavors! Does anyone know of a way to slow down time?

Happy birthday! It is a lovely top.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how to slow time down - there's never enough of it! At least you'll never be bored...
Thanks Mim! I am certainly never bored, I forget what it is like to be bored!
DeleteHappy Birthday! That top is beautiful, it actually looks 1920's except for the shorter length.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marike! It's surprising how vintage 1980's things can look sometimes!
DeleteI love how you paired this top to give it a classy 20's feel. Very nice ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Akram! :)
DeleteHappy birthday! Lovely outfit! I often wish that in this day and age there were more occasions to really dress up for.
ReplyDeleteThank you Irene! I just get dressed up for anything, fabric shopping, lunch at Panera...I get some odd looks but it sure is fun!
DeleteSuper lovely! One really has to hand it to the 80s. So many previous decades were channeled, often extremely well, during it's (relatively) short ten year span. Though we often think of the 40s and 50s as being the big revival decades of the eighties, there were lots of fun Edwardian and 1920s elements, too, as this glistening blouse demonstrates.

Thanks Jessica! Now if only I could find some more 80's suede belts in simple shapes and good colors, they are my favorite 80's finds!
DeleteA belated happy birthday Bianca! You're wearing that top so well - great to have a bit of sparkle for a special occasion.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about time for creative endeavours! x
Thank you Porcelina! <3
DeleteI love it when decades emulate other decades! It always makes those other decades more accessible, especially where the 20s are concerned.
