Bears Repeating

I repeat this dress all the time, but I have never showed you all how I would style it for evening! So this time I layered on the crystal rhinestone jewelry and slipped on my most Barbie worthy orchid pink/purple gloves. I bought the flowers (at Michael's craft store) to match these gloves and even brought the gloves with me to the shop to make sure I found some that would coordinate well. I really can't wait for the hair flowers I ordered recently to arrive from the UK, I try not to shop from overseas anymore since I tend to be too impatient...

I feel like I have mentioned this before, but I have a love hate relationship with my smile. I can't decide if I like that last photo there, which is why I decided to make sure to include it, to push myself to try and like the smiling version of my face. My parents did pay a pretty penny for braces, so really I should show off my teeth more often, but I just don't like what smiling does to the rest of my face! Weird complex I know. Perhaps it's also that my hair is just a bit too short to really pull of this half up sort of style. The back settled into such a good wave this time though! I haven't poodled the front in a while, and since I was going for quite an authentic 1940's look I decided my hair should reflect that as well. I think all in all this ensemble does look pretty authentically 40's. Though the shoes are a bit of a modern take on the style from Zara.

I actually finished a sewing project this week you guys, can you believe it?! That makes this (an olive green circle skirt) the first start-to-finish sewing project I have completed this year...and it's May already. So crazy, I have never been this behind/slow with sewing. I'm half way through making a new dress that I hope to finish soon, but that's only if I don't end up with jury duty tomorrow! Fingers crossed I won't be needed this time!

  1. Lots to love in this post! Love your smile, but I totally understand having issues with parts of our appearance. Good for you for pushing yourself! Hair looks amazing. That pink/purple color is gorgeous. I've also been enjoying your stronger brow. Thanks for another beautiful post!

  4. There are just some dresses are are flawless and worth with so many different things. It's good to have versatility!

I do love what you have paired with this outfit! The magenta is such a great color!

I totally get what you mean about what certain things do to the rest of your face. I'm the opposite of you - I have a terrible time creating a decent serious look, which is why I end up smiling in most of my photos! Even though I have a slight complex about part of my teeth. I'm proud of you for including this photo though! And I think you look marvelous!

    1. Thank you Janey! <3 I went a long while never even letting anyone take a photo of me at all, so I've come a long way! I definitely still feel more comfortable not smiling, but I'm trying to practice :)

  5. Accessorised to the max! You look sensational. I have rediscovered that shade of pink and want more in my wardrobe. It certainly makes a statement! I tend not to like a lot of smiling photos of myself either, I am working on it!! X

    1. Thank you! I don't usually go in for pink as even though I like the color, few shades work with my skin tone, so accessories are easier!
