Harvest Hues

If only this jacket actually fit me... I really need to put this suit up for sale as it is too small but I keep dreaming it will magically grow somehow! Still I pretended for a day by wearing it open over my new yellow sweater and that will have to do.

I just finished the dark red pencil skirt recently (using up fabric left over from making my red wiggle dress). I have so many cotton pencil skirts it's getting a bit ridiculous, I must switch over to making some in wool for winter time. As for the yellow sweater, I found it at H&M, though the ends of the sleeves had an odd slit/opening that I sewed shut. To finish the outfit I paired it with some perfect (and oh so soft) white leather gloves, a yellow belt, a cute little berry brooch, and oh wait--what are those shoes?! Yep, the new 1940's repro line from Royal Vintage shoes is out, and goodness how cute are these spectators in brown and white!

The arch support is so nice, and so unusual these days, that it actually surprised me when when I first slipped on the wonderful Peggy heels. There is simply nothing like an all leather shoe with a well balanced heel, instantly secure footing and no painful breaking-in period! I find that both of the styles I have tried from Royal Vintage's new line do run a bit on the larger side, but these Peggy's still fit in my regular size 10. The Marilyn's (I purchased the black and the red) were a bit big too, and though the black still fit if a tiny bit roomy, I had to send the red back for a 9.5 as they were just too big and wouldn't stay on my feet. Still they are all gorgeous and really well made shoes, so I can't wait to be wearing them constantly from now on!

I can't believe it is already Monday again! I don't know about you all, but I could use a whole week without early morning alarms! Sewing or sleeping, sometimes I wish I had more time for both ;)

  1. What a lovely ensemble! You've pulled all these autumnal tones together fantastically. I hope you don't mind me saying so, but you remind me of a pile of autumn leaves all raked together!! In the best way of course, ;) ~ I think it's the colours. It's a shame the jacket doesn't fit, but it does look lovely styled with the sweater underneath, I always console myself that if I have to sell something at least I have a good reason to go on another hunt for something else to replace it. ❤

  2. Your shoes are absolutely divine, but I also love the colours of your outfit - so right for autumn/fall. I seem constantly to be commenting on hosiery in recent days (well, it's always a fave topic of mine...) - I saw beautiful burgundy and purple seams in posts yesterday and now your lovely brown seamed tights, which are a perfect match with your shoes. I need some of those! Kx

    1. Thank you! These shoes are amazing, I cant recommend them enough <3 The stockings are actually a cheat, as they are backseam tights instead of thigh high stockings! What Katie Did keep even lazy gals like me looking proper ;)

  3. This is the BEST fall outfit! It's all perfect.
I'm utterly devastated the new shoe line doesn't come in my size. SO sad.

    1. Thanks Emileigh! I'm on the large end of the size range and I know being at either end has it's difficulties! I am always lamenting how many companies seem to make the size 7.5 of a heel look super cute and then don't bother to adjust the proportions for the 5s and the 10s!

  4. Love the color combination of this outfit! And of course the shoes. :) I had a hard time decided which RV shoes to order but went with the red Marilyn's. I found them to be a touch big as well, especially in the heel area, so I will be exchanging them. I was a bit relieved to hear from others that that style runs big and it wasn't just my silly feet.

    1. Thanks Emily! Not just your silly feet, the red ran larger than the black too which is even more strange seeing as I assume they were made with the same pattern pieces and last! The quirks of small quantity production I suppose, but the resulting shoes are so lovely and well made <3

  5. What a lovely outfit. You're right about comfy shoes being wonderful things, and Royal Vintage have a great selection.

I have so many jackets I can only wear open; I can't bear to get rid of any of them.

  7. You look fantastic! I love how the spectator shoes look with the white gloves, I wasn't bold enough to order them myself. Hmm, my brown jacket is just too large, perhaps we should talk! Hahaha.

  8. Lovely autumn coloured outfit, everything looks gorgeous together. The jacket is very nice. I have a coat that I can't do up but I really love it so I just make out that I styled it that way intentionally!!
