Forties Flair

Seeing as this jacket matches three of my pencil skirts (black, dark brown, and warm brown) due to it's being made up of scraps from each, it was inevitable it would appear again here on the blog. This time I paired it with the dark brown twill skirt and some ivory accessories so that I could wear this fun vintage hat!

This hat has seen its best days sadly, the fine straw like material is softly flaking into nothingness every time I touch it. I expect I'll have to retire it after only a few wearings, but such is the nature of vintage sometimes. Luckily the celluloid jewelry and handbag I also have here are much more hardy. I just love this plastiflex clutch so much, I want to find more in every color!

As summer begins to fade into fall I am very excited to pull out more suiting, you all know my love of suiting! Perhaps the fates of vintage will smile on me again and I can pick up a new 40s suit this fall, I recently ordered a lovely brown wool suit that turned out to be too small for me so we'll have to see. I may just have to turn to my trusty sewing machine yet again and do some tailoring :)

Suit: Made by me
Shoes: Remix
Handbag, Jewelry, & Hat: Vintage

  2. Ohhhh, your hat! I don't know how many times I have said that, nor how many times I'm going to say it in the future... But I love that hat!! The flower on the top and the two contrasting tones of the straw. It's lovely. ❤
