Ivory Pavillion

Can one have too many little cotton summer suits? I used the left over cottons from making three pencil skirts to make this little jacket, which now of course matches all three skirts! The colors gradate from black to toffee brown at the top of the shoulder in linear color blocks. I used the dark brown again for the cuffs on the sleeves and decided on black buttons down the front. I am still just so pleased with how the jacket came out!

I wore the new jacket with my black pencil skirt (the matching one of course) to Balboa Park in San Diego on Thursday. Spreckels Organ Pavilion is a beautiful backdrop after all, look at all that filagree! It was a beautiful day in the park, and you bet I have more photos from such a lovely place coming up soon.

I'm writing this on Friday, because on Monday I will be at Disneyland all day! Goodness am I excited for that! I am just such a Disneyland fan girl <3

Suit: Made by me
Shoes: Bait Footwear (Modcloth)
Brooch & Earrings: Vintage

  1. I so like the graded black to brown on your jacket - it makes a predominantly black suit look anything but all black (if that makes sense!) Kx

    1. Thank you! The gradation is a bit hard to see here but it is definitely more pronounced in person :)

  2. Ahh! I LOVE Balboa Park! It's my favorite place in San Diego!

Also, so happy you're going to Disneyland! I hope you have fun! I'm not sure if I'll be going Friday, but if I do, who knows, I might bump into you and how fun would that be!

    1. Balboa Park is indeed the best!

I went to the park on Monday, and I would say avoid going this week! It was a bit of a nightmare it was so busy with spring break people! I still had a good time since I adore the place, but the crowd made the wait times killer awful :( I'll just have to go back soon at a less popular time!

    1. Thanks! I did have fun but they didn't make it easy with the gazillion people there! I plan on going in the "off" season next time!

  5. Never, ever! Suits of any type are impossible to have in excess. They were once the backbone of most people's wardrobes for good reason and would still be if I had my way! :D

I hope that you had a stellar trip, my dear friend.

    Joyful Easter weekend wishes!

    1. Thanks Jessica! I quite agree :) The more suits the better! The trip was very fun, but I caught a bug on the plane and am now sick in bed! It's a snowy weekend here, so being cooped up in bed isn't too terrible as I wouldn't want to be out in the cold anyway. Happy Easter weekend to you too!

  7. What an ornate building! Is it literally a building with an organ in it? For concerts? Great idea to make a suit jacket with the 3 fabrics from your skirts. It looks lovely.

    1. Thanks Kate! It certainly is very ornate indeed! It's an outdoor organ concert pavilion that has concerts every Sunday and special events too.
