Tartan Noir

Busy. Tis' the season to be busy! I am so behind on blogging, I apologize! I finally got to take a few snaps of an outfit to show you all today, it feels like it has been forever!

As you know, I cut my hair, though as you can see it is still quite long. I need to cut off another inch at least before it will really corporate! I set it in foam rollers overnight to achieve this style. I still need to figure out the best setting pattern for me, and buy a few more rollers in the smaller size I'd like. Still, I feel like I'm moving in the right direction.

Speaking of direction, ish...I found myself matching plaids yet again! I am so so happy with how this skirt came out though, despite the extra work plaid requires. The fabric was another $3.97 a yard bargain find and has a lovely drape. I added a bit of a pinched gathering to the side of my usual skirt pattern, pleating upwards for a bit of sway. Then I added flare to the rest of the side seam so the excess would fall into a drape. It was a windy day today so the side drape was flapping around while I was trying to get photos and looks a bit silly in some of these!

The other new part of my outfit (that I didn't get a clear photo of) is this amazing vintage celluloid brooch! I picked it up during my Black Friday shopping, and am so pleased with just how fun it is! 1940's bright red celluloid fall maple leaves and little acorns! I know fall is over now that it is #ChristmasSeason but I couldn't resist pinning it on anyway. I know I will be getting a lot of use out of this new addition to my fall themed brooch collection next year!

I have big (possibly foolhardy) plans to get caught up and even ahead on my sewing this upcoming weekend, so wish me luck! Hopefully I can return to posting daily soon like I usually do. It's this month, so busy! I hope you all are having a good December so far!
