Is it too late in the year to be wearing straw hats? The thing is, I just love straw hats! Oh well, when I wore this outfit last week it hadn't snowed again and it was fall once more.
I mentioned a while back that I had some extra fabric left over from making my tan/brown mini hounds-tooth skirt that I wanted to make into a matching bolero. Well here it is! I threw together a bolero pattern (it still needs a bit of tweaking) and suddenly had myself a little suit! I wore the set with my olive green rayon blouse and of course my brown straw hat. I think it will be time to pack such summer hats away for the winter soon sadly.
I'm starting a new job this holiday week, but that doesn't mean I'll be absent from the blogosphere. In fact, I may even have a little treat for you guys coming up later this week, so stay tuned!

hello,ciao...so charming outfit...so nice photos...cheers!
ReplyDeleteFabulous little suit, the bolero is great! You have chosen a fantastic background for the photos. That second picture looks like it should be on the front of a 1950's fashion magazine. I hope you enjoy your new job.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kate! <3
DeleteOoohh, I swear, I was pondering that same question when packing for our current week in Vancouver. Ultimately, I left the straw toppers at home this time, but that was more so because I worry about them breaking/getting damaged (in my luggage and then in our crammed microscopically small trunk) more than some of my felt toppers. In general, I will still sport straw hats in the chilly months, especially when they're in dyed, darker colours.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is so powerfully chic and just as lovely as lovely can be!

Thank you Jessica! I know what you mean, vintage straw hats can be quite delicate! I'm glad you agree they can be worn through winter, I just love straw hats and couldn't put them all away for months at a time!
DeleteThis is a wonderful shape on you, absolutely lovely. Good luck with your new job, and Happy Thanksgiving! Kx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Happy holidays to you too! :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful suit. I love the autumnal colors. The vintage brooch is great as well.
ReplyDeleteWow, Bianca, I liked this outfit right away, but I am especially impressed that you MADE it yourself! It looks vintage.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I think hats are appropriate any time of the year. It is a lovely had. And that pin - oh so beautiful!
Happy Friday!
:) Hope
Thank you hope! I'm so glad you think it looks vintage, that's totally my goal! :)
DeleteThis suit is so fab., and yes, the hat is perfect, regardless of the straw. I certainly think that with the darker color, you can get away with wearing it in the colder months. :) ❤
