I just had to wear my new hat this week, so today I threw on my loyal black pencil skirt and a vintage blouse I picked up this summer! This blouse was such a great find, 100% rayon, a double layered collar, little shoulder pads for a stronger shoulder shape, so perfectly 1940's! It's definitely from the 80's or early 90's, but it works really well with my more 40's/50's style, which just goes to show how clothing from more recent decades can still come in handy for a vintage wardrobe.
I spent the day working on a new basic blouse pattern for a few new late 30's/early 40's tops I want to make this week. I started on the first blouse, cutting out the new pattern from a floral polyester crepe in black with dark red flowers. I'm really excited about the many colors in the print (hints of dark mustard yellow, dark green leaves, and hints of grey) as they will match a lot of my pencil skirts giving me many styling options. Hopefully I can finish the blouse up later this week!

DeleteGreat hat, very glamorous! I like the double collar on the blouse, that is a pretty feature. The blouse you are working on sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kate! I struggled to get the double collars to lay nicely, but I definitely like the idea of them!

ReplyDeleteThanks Rike! I don't know why it took me so long to wear it, it's been in my closet all summer!
DeleteTerrific outfit! I love the tailoring of this blouse so very, very much. It's so beautifully classic looking and one sense that it would work well with a plethora of different outfits and through all four seasons.
