A New Straw Hat and More Blouse Progress

I am in love with this straw hat you guys, I can't wait for more warm weather so I can wear it all the time! I found this hat on my favorite haunt, Etsy of course, and for only 20 dollars! Such a steal for a versatile hat like this in great condition. I am slowly growing my hat collection, I can't wait to show you guys some of the other new additions in upcoming outfit posts!

This is the second wearable mock-up of my new retro blouse pattern. This version has shorter sleeves and I tried a different neckline. I had just enough left over fabric from this dress to eek out the front piece of this blouse, but needed to do something different for the back. I had wanted to make a raglan sleeve version of this pattern anyway, so I used that for the back of this blouse. I still have a few tiny adjustments I want to make to the blouse pattern as it stands. I started by moving the fullness from the side dart of my basic bodice pattern into the waist dart, creating one huge dart at the waist. This however has lead to some odd puckering at the bust point so I think I want to reintroduce a side dart and move some of the fullness back over. I also want to figure out how to, using the raglan sleeve version of the pattern, make 3/4 length bishop sleeves for this pattern.

I have taken a blouse break to make a few skirts, after making 4 blouses it was time for a small reprieve! I can't wait to get cracking on some other spring projects, and I keep adding ever more onto my list! In other words, it's back to the sewing room for me...

  1. It's soooo lovely and chic and warm weather perfect. What a great score and deal, too. I could see this hat working well into autumn, perhaps with brown and dark green fashions.

Timelessly pretty ensemble - your newly made blouses are all making me go weak in the knees! :)
