Last night I found myself going through my hats, most of which are very 18th century inspired, and were created for historic costume not vintage everyday wear. I was trying to figure out how to style some of them so I can actually get to wear them more often. I figured that little historic hats aren't that different from 1940's tilt hats right?
I stole this skirt from my mom years ago, it was hers in the 80's and is therefore nearly"vintage" now. I think it looks rather 1940's and I have really come to like it! I am still looking for sheer navy tights, these nude fishnets have a thick black seam up the back and are fun, but are neither very accurate or well made. I am on the hunt for a finer nude fishnet, with smaller netting and a back-seam, for the upcoming year ahead. I am having a hard time not dreaming of my summer wardrobe already, the perils of winter! I have so many sewing projects I want to complete, I wish I could clone myself and one of me could stay home sewing all day!
I want to start making hats again, this time focusing on more 20th century vintage styles. Another To-Do to add to my already long list!

Seriously stunning outfit! Wow, wow and wow again! This is something I would wear in a New York minute. It's awesome that you make hats and have the skills needed to do just that. You are such an awesomely talented person, my dear friend.

DeleteGorgeous hat and outfit! Most of the time, a tilt hat is a tilt hat, and the styles of the forties in particular reference the past a lot anyway, so it totally works! When you've fine to all the effort that a hat takes, you want to find a way to wear it :)
