Tartan Harvest

Tartan season is the best, not that I don't cheat in the summer by wearing gingham which is close to plaid anyways!

This plaid wool skirt is a new addition to my collection of tartans, as I do have quite a few plaid skirts. This one is harder to pair with tops than I thought it would be, as the dark brown in the skirt is actually a very burgundy/brown and doesn't match either color perfectly. I really like to coordinate so stuff like colors not matching perfectly tends to bother me more than it should! The yellow and orange sweater was an impulse buy from Zara last year, and had funny slits in the cuff area that I sewed shut. I'd still like a proper 1940s mustard yellow sweater, but for that I either need to learn to knit much better or save up for having one made by a master knitter. If only I could afford more Emmy Design Sweden cardigans, but I'm currently saving up for other things *cough* *shoes*

I hope you have all had a great week! I always feel like I have to also say "despite the various tragedies and crazy sh** going on!!!" but it's getting old always having to say that, and so I'll just assume you know I mean "good week despite the various tragedies and crazy sh** going on!!!". One hopes for a better future, and hope is important. I have a lot of dreams that I want to work towards, and that keeps me going. It may be crazy now, and the future may be unknowable, but there is always hope!

  1. Sometimes if you can't match, a bit of contrast is the way to go! I think the sweater works very well with the skirt, and I love the little touch of green with the brooch. Fabulous shoes as well.

  2. Lovely outfit! It all works well together to my eyes. It's nice to see a bit of sunshine, too - so late in the autumn, those crisp, clear days are so welcome.

    1. Thank you Mim! We get a lot of sunshine here in Colorado even in winter so I'm lucky in that regard!

  3. The sweater looks really great with the skirt. I'm lucky at the moment as I am a spinner so i spin all my own yarn and dye it to what ever colour I like and then a friend uses the yarn to knit exact reproduction sweaters and cardigans for me. It's a win win situation!

  4. Hello...I stumbled upon your Youtube channel by accident and have begun following that and your blog here. Really enjoying both immensely. I adore vintage style and the way you present it is wonderful. And I utterly love tartan and plaid. Makes me think of autumn in Britain for some reason. Beautiful skirt and I think that colour of sweater works very well with it. Cheers.

    1. Thank you so much Melanie! I'd love to see Britain in the autumn as I have only been there in winter and spring so far, which I found chilly of course but still wonderful!

  5. This is the perfect autumn outfit, I love the colours. It's easy to get a bit gothic early on in autumn, because of Halloween, and end up in black until February. I saw a tree this morning the exact colour of your jumper. So cheery! Xx

    1. Thank you Porcelina! As much as I love the goth look, and I really do, I also just love warm fall colors so I must do a bit of both!

  7. I very much like how you match the pansy! Mustard is one of the best colours, I like it paired with this tartan skirt. Lovely autumn outfit.
