I am always looking for reasons to wear this velvet hat of mine, so when I realized it would go well with this velvet jacket I rarely wear I was pretty pleased. I paired the two with my hounds-tooth 1/2 circle skirt for an early 50's new look inspired ensemble. This was the first outing for my new red gloves, which are just a tad snug (apparently most ladies had tiny hands! or mine are very large...) and had some slight staining on the palms that wasn't mentioned in the listing. Still, I have them a wash and in the end they really set off the red in this skirt. I acquired two other pairs of gloves over the post-Christmas sales time period and am going to incorporating them into my wardrobe a little more often, at least in winter when the temperatures really do warrant them!
I have been struggling with getting sewing done so far this year, but hopefully I will finish a deep blue and gold brocade dress I have been working on this week. I want to finish the dress before I jump into making the first of my planned skirt suits. I hope you all are having a great week back to reality after the holidays!

This is so beautiful, the bow detail on that hat is fantastic, you've really nailed the 40s New Look - and I read your previous post where you talk about blogging goals and really look forward to your 40s outfits this year :)

Thank you! I have really been forties focused lately, I want to be a bit more era specific with my ensembles this year. I in turn am excited for your deco looks on your new blog :)
DeleteSuper beautiful outfit. The classic lines and endlessly chic, winter perfect hues here are slaying me in the most delightful of ways.

Aw thank you Liana! It is a favorite hat for sure <3
DeleteStunning! I'm a bit jealous of the gorgeous snowy backdrop too. I do love seeing your hat collection, I imagine that it must take over an entire room in your house! x
ReplyDeleteThank you Porcelina! The snow was blinding me on this particular day so I wasn't a fan. It can be very pretty, but not with the midday sun bounding off of it! My hats do take up quite a bit of space, one day I'd love to have a huge closet room, that't the dream!
DeleteHurray, skirt suits! You look lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Piper!
DeleteLovely hat with such a pretty trim. It goes so well with the skirt and jacket.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you manage to do it; but you have all my favourite elements in this look... Velvet, a gorgeous skirt and of course, a fabulous hat! Love it! ❤
