I have had this plaid fabric in my stash for years and years! I made a full skirt out of it once, but it was terrible and I cut it apart to make this blouse instead. I actually still have quite a bit of fabric left, so I will probably make a matching pencil skirt next year. I'm pretty sure I bought this fabric at Walmart of all places, and I got it way back in high school. It just screams holiday dress this fabric- I mean, red and white plaid satin with flocked velvet floral motifs? I do love the way this top came out, especially the neckline which was a fun little change to my usual (and probably boring to you all now) blouse pattern.
This little velvet hat is a newer addition, and a style I have wanted in black for a long while now as it matches so much of what I wear! I still wear a lot of black, I can't help it, I love black clothes! I also take the holiday season as a good excuse for wearing my more formal rhinestone jewelry during the day. Why not right? Layer on the sparkle.
I still have a lot of catching up to do after being so busy last week. I have a few finishing touches for a surprise project I'll be putting up later this week, one last present to wrap, and mounds of housework to do! One day I'll get back to my abandoned knitting project... ;)

ReplyDeleteThank you Siri! And to think I avoided the look for so long back in college, silly me ;)
DeleteYour brooch is so pretty, but that plaid with the flocking is something special for sure! I love it! But as you already know, I'm also totally obsessed with plaid... :P ❤

DeleteWhat a stunning, memorable art deco brooch. It's absolutely gorgeous, as is the rest of your outfit. That blouse is fantastic and channels a 30s feel for sure, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Boxing Day wishes, my sweet friend!

ReplyDeleteThank you Kate! I have already started work on a new dress using this style of neckline again.
