Little Black Day Dress

Today was another day between snows, it is supposed to snow again tomorrow! It wasn't too cold out today though, I was perfectly comfortable without my coat! I finished sewing this basic little black day dress last week out of a lace patterned cotton with a small amount of stretch. I wanted a basic black dress for day wear and I think this dress fits the bill perfectly. I can't wait to style it with a bunch of different hats and colors of accessories!

I bought a small set of animal and bug brooches last year including this spider. Jeweled spiders are the only kind of spider I can handle, and I love this little vintage spider! This hat was one of a few my grandparents gave me from relatives a few years ago, I really like the beret shape! The texture of the hat is created by tiny punched notches in the wool. It goes really well with my camel coat, which of course I forgot to take photos of!

I hope you guys are having a good week so far! I am halfway through sewing a new forest green wool pencil skirt so hopefully I can finish that up and show you guys soon!

  1. What a classic, classy outfit - the spider pin adds the most marvelous hit of edge (and goth-ness) to this look, too, which just makes me adore it all the more.
