New Beauty Favorites
Besides being obsessed with my new Colour Pop products, I have integrated a lot of other new cosmetics into my routine. I thought I would pass on some of my new favorites to you guys!
I wanted to upgrade my daily routine after I noticed my foundation wasn't looking as flawless as I would like. The only beauty product I actually spend a significant amount of money on is my foundation (Studio Fix from Mac, $28) and I figured if I was going to be buying pricey foundation I wanted it too look good! The reason I like Studio Fix is that it lasts all day and it is the only foundation I have ever used that does so on my skin. I wanted to upgrade my application process though so I invested in a Real Techniques stippling brush. I have really been enjoying using this new brush! It gives a much more even application than just using my fingers, which is what I was doing before.
For some reason I haven't been using concealer for the past few years and I decided to re-introduce that step into my daily routine. I have been using the NYX HD Photogenic Concealer, but I think I need to get a lighter shade next time. I also picked up the Rimmel Match Perfection Concealer which is a 2 in 1 product which is also a highlighter. I really like this product and find it blends in really easily while giving me a bit of highlight too.
I decided to add some brushes to my arsenal, as I have always tended to just use my fingers to apply make-up and I wanted to step up my game. I bought a few new brushes from ELF because I didn't want to spend a fortune! Besides brushes I also picked up two of their eye shadow primers. I have been liking both and my eye shadow now stays put all day long now! I really like the Glitter Primer as I love wearing really shimmery and glittery eye shadows and this helps them adhere with maximum color payoff. Plus it is only $2 dollars! I also received ELF's navy blue liquid liner for Christmas in my stocking and find it really easy to use and very pigmented! The black that came in the same set is not the same and is pretty sheer, but the navy is a winner!
Next up are some products that were recommended by YouTuber Kathleen Lights, who is my new favorite beauty vlogger! She is just too cute and uses and reviews a lot of affordable drugstore products. I had been looking for a new fall/winter appropriate blush and heard her recommended NYX's Powder Blush in the shade Mauve. I don't like sparkles in face products so I was happy to try a nice matte blush and she is right this stuff is great! A perfect warm mauve color that goes with every make-up look. I also picked up Maybelline's Fit Me Face Powder on her recommendation that it was a good powder for setting concealer. I have been liking it so far and now I totally trust Kathleen to recommend good stuff!
I also picked up NYX's Mosaic Powder Blush in their Highlighter shade. I have never been one to put much thought into contouring my face, not since my days in theater where strong contour is essential! I still have yet to find a contouring powder I like, most just make my face look dirty (I have the same response to bronzer). I have added this highlighter as a soft introduction to contouring and I really like how subtle it is!
What about you guys, have you come across any new holy grail products at the drugstore lately?

You know, I can't say as though I have. For the past several years I've largely stuck with the same handful of products that really do the job for me. I do want to get a little more experimental with my makeup again though (I was so bold on that front as a teenager!), so hopefully by the end of the year I'll have a much better answer to your question. :)

Hey once you find what works for you, there is no reason to switch it up! I had just been wanting to upgrade my daily routine which is why I found so many new things at once. I have always focused on eyes and lips and sorta ignored face make-up as boring, now that I have added some new products, I really like the difference!
