The floral headband is experiencing quite a popularity boom. Be it on the heads of songstress ladies like Lana Del Rey and Katy Perry or models on the Dolce and Gabbana runway the floral headband is a huge trend right now. But wearings flowers on your head or in your hair is not a new phenomenon by any means!

Vintage Floral hats from the V&A

Floral hats have a long history all the way back to the laurel wreaths of ancient Greece and Rome and before. Starting in the 1940's and on through the 1960's hats made primarily of flowers over a headband or wire frame base were popular accessories in a time when hats were mandatory.

 I am glad to see the flower headband come back in such a huge way. The modern flower headbands of today are big enough that one can get away with wearing great vintage hats instead. I found some vintage originals on etsy-

I just invested in a new-to-me little vintage flower hat I found on etsy, I can't wait for it to arrive! I think the primary colored flowers on the black velvet wire base will match a variety of outfits and that this little hat will be the perfect compliment to my new shorter vintage style haircut! I'll show you all how it looks when it arrives!
