Think Pink

While out running errands, do you ever struggle to find a nice blank wall to get some blog photos against? No? Just me then? Suburbia needs more large solid walls you guys, like some plain brick or even just blank concrete, I'm not that picky...

Anyway, photo backdrop troubles aside, really I just wanted to show you all my new (well, vintage, but new to my wardrobe) black handbag because I really love it! One of the first vintage handbags I ever added to my collection was a brown reptile skin 1950's style handbag, and somehow it took a few years for me to find one I liked in black as well. It was a very Slytherin mail day as this black purse and a new pair of emerald green gloves both arrived and I can't wait to wear them together sometime. (Yes, fellow Harry Potter nerds, I am a Slytherin. I had no idea until Pottermore told me, I always thought I was a Ravenclaw, but I have to admit...Slytherin fits me better!) Speaking of gloves, this was the first time I wore these shocking pink gloves and they are pretty bright and fun aren't they? I had never really been the biggest fan of pink, but I started to warm up to the color last year all of a sudden. In small doses it turns out I like pink just fine!

Finally, this jacket it also new. Someone freeze my Etsy account! (just kidding, please don't) It is actually part of a new suit, but I need to let the skirt out a bit in the hips before I can wear it as one ;) I wanted a more 1950's style black suit, but I'm not sure this number is truly the 'one' I have been after. The open style of darts in the bodice are just not as flattering as the more sculpted 1940's suits I am used to. This style of jacket is more late 1950's/early 1960's and makes me feel I look a bit matronly honestly. I dunno, what do you guys think? I think I'll be sticking to more 1940's styles in the future, but this suit still feels very professional and put together for any future meetings I may need to look chic and classy. Like you know...meetings at publishing houses one day, a girl can dream right?

  1. Yes! I totally get you! On more than one occasion I have actually stopped at Knott's Berry Farm on my way to an event to snap pictures for the blog. Finding a nice area that doesn't scream "Knott's!" and could perhaps been anywhere... I totally dig this wall you have though! As well as this outfit! That pink is fab by the way!

  2. Haha, I am sort of the opposite of you! I tend to look for texture or floral things or, like my last post, an ivy wall. Although I do tend to try to photograph in front of things that are cohesive! I always wished I could find more colorful walls in our town.

    This outfit is so classic!

    1. Thank you Kristina! I would looove to have an ivy covored wall. Good textures are also a total score, sadly my corner of suburbia has none of those either really...

  3. Ah, backdrop struggles are real! Sometimes I want a white brick wall, sometimes I want ivy, but finding the perfect spot with good lighting is not easy... I really do love your touches of hot pink in this look. It's a really nice contrast with the black.

  4. Oooh, that bag! So covetable. I don't often have my photo taken, which at least means no need to find a wall.

Pottermore put me in Ravenclaw, which I thought was odd as I'm definitely a Hufflepuff.

    1. Thank you Mim! I was confused by my Slytherin result, and then I realized I am a cynical, ambitious loner and thought "hmm, well, I guess so then"
