Full Circle

Weird purple lettuce look-alike plant? Yep.

It took me three hours to hem this circle skirt! Three hours!!! That's a long hem ladies and gentlemen! Still I am so excited to finally have a basic black circle skirt in my wardrobe, I even ordered a petticoat to wear under it in the future for maximum 50's floofy prancing around! :) It was about time I ordered a petticoat really, how have I gone so long without one?

For the new skirt's first outing I paired it with an eyelet blouse I found thrifting last year and red accessories. The coated wicker handbag is new and is another piece I am so excited to finally have! What could possibly be better for summertime than a wicker handbag? Plus it is surprisingly roomy inside which is a nice discovery. I became a handbag person out of nowhere recently, though accessories and I have had a long standing affair for years now :)

I hope you are all having a lovely first week of June! I'll be celebrating my brother's graduation from university with my family this weekend which should be fun indeed!

  1. Chic, gorgeous outfit, sweet dear. That skirt is an absolute classic and will likely become a very frequent wardrobe player for you. How exciting that you've ordered a crinoline. I find that they're rather like potato chips or delicious cookies, it's exceedingly hard to stop at just one - and really, why would you want to? :)

    Oodles of hugs,

    1. Thank you Jessica! I will definitely have to steam the petticoat as it has arrived very crumpled! ;)

  2. Is it a stretch velvet? If so, did you let it hang overnight before hemming? I'm so nervous to work with velvet in large quantities!

    1. It's actually cotton sateen, but I did indeed let it hang overnight before I hemmed it :) I love velvet but I hate hemming it!

  4. Gosh, that is lots of hemming. I made a dress last year and haven't finished it yet as I'm putting off the massive hemming task! Better get on with it for this summer. Lovely skirt and the top was a good find.
