It was unseasonably warm today here in Colorado. In fact, it was well into 60 degree temperatures! A taste of spring and sun was just what I needed today. I am already getting excited about my upcoming sewing projects for spring and I haven't even finished my winter sewing yet! I need to get back to my sewing room and finish a few more of the dresses I have already had planned for ages.
Taking advantage of the mini heat wave, my photographer and I wandered over to a local garden and event center nearby to check it out. Obviously winter is not the prime season to be checking out a garden, but I have high hopes for this place once spring arrives! I especially liked this little dock area near one of the ponds. After walking around a bit it seems like this garden will be an even lovelier spot for outfit photos this coming spring/summer season.
I had on a rather casual (by my standards) outfit today, one of my favorite blouses and my trusty navy blue cotton pencil skirt. I bought these navy fishnets off of amazon and they are totally awful! They are "one size fits all" which in this case means horrifically too big and generally shapeless. My search for suitable sheer navy tights continues ever on. Anyone know of a good source for well made fishnet tights?
I had hoped to try out a completely different hairstyle today, but my tresses were not cooperating in the least! I want to try and master the victory rolls+bumper bang roll 40's style, where everything looks like one big lovely roll on the front/top of ones head. Sadly my hair wasn't having it today and just didn't want to sit how I needed it to! I compromised by putting it into rolls as best I could and leaving the rest down in curls. I promise I will start doing hair tutorials soon, I just have to figure out a good set up for filming everything.
I hope all of you are having a lovely Monday!

You look lovely in those colours! And you wouldn't think it was January from that lovely sunshine. I can't buy 'one size' tights as they're always too short for my long legs! I'm in the UK so can't help with your search, but over here I use websites such as stockingshq.co.uk which you could maybe look at the brand names on and then see if you can track them down x
ReplyDeleteThank you Porcelina! In my searches it seems like there are a lot more stockings/tights retailers and options in the UK, I will just have to move as I love London to bits already!
DeleteLovely outfit and weather! Goodness, so that's what sunlight looks like, I'd completely forgotten! ;D
ReplyDeleteYou know, it just struck me that I really tend to sport navy in the spring. It seems like a lighter take on black and a great way to transition between the dark palette of winter and the vibrant on of spring/summer. I have a navy blue 50s pencil skirt that I always bust out when the snow boots go back into the storage closet at long last and am eager to slip into it again in a few weeks.

Thank you Jessica! It has been nice to have a reprieve from the snow and cold, I know it will come back, but until then I am taking advantage of the sun!
DeleteThis outfit is marvelous! Keep practicing with hair! It took me eons it seemed to get some hairstyles down!

Thanks Janey! Bumper bangs have always given me trouble! I need to practice more :)
DeleteI really like this hairstyle. I am looking forward to your hair tutorials, I am determined to master some do's this year! My hair looks to be about the same length as yours and I keep thinking it would be a great length to do things with if I could just get better at it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate! I need to work out how I am going to film them, mirrors and camera angles and such, I will work on it!
