Sights & Stripes Along the Seine

Welcome to Paris! The sun was out, people were picnicking in the Tuileries, and my museum pass was ready to go, must be time to explore! What could be more touristy than a striped top and my big camera? Well it may have be very cliche, but I didn't mind!

This particular striped top is one of Vivien of Holloway's slash neck tops of course. I wore it with my black cotton sateen pencil skirt, a yellow silk scarf, my black and yellow Luxulite brooch and earrings set, and favorite black Royal Vintage pumps! A simple, and alright perhaps overdone, Parisienne tourist look for a morning spent visiting the Musée de l'Orangerie. We picked up some baguette sandwiches and lemonade from a cart in the gardens afterwards and had a picnic of our own before heading over to the Louvre for the rest of our day. And yes, of course I switched into flat shoes for the Louvre, as comfortable as Royal Vintage shoes are, I'm not that crazy ;)

I still can't get over how gorgeous chestnut trees are, I don't think we have them here in Colorado? I know I have never seen them like they were in Paris at least, huge and looming with branches laden with funny flowers. Chestnuts and Wisteria are the two plants I would have very much liked to bring back home. Instead of blooms, a 48 hour snow storm met our arrival back in Denver! It froze our lilacs just as they had begun to bloom and broke apart my favorite apple tree. Thank goodness it seems like that was our last snow for the season and the summer pattern of afternoon thunderstorms has picked up already. Colorado sure is home to some crazy weather!

I hope you all had a most lovely weekend!

  1. Don't you look utterly Parisian chic! You're like something out of a movie - An American In Paris, maybe, if we want to get real literal about it. The striped top is really cute, and I love the little yellow scarf at the neck. J'adore!

  3. Wow, you couldn't be more Parisian chic if you tried! It's such a classic look and you pull it off so well. I loved the Musée de l'Orangerie when I went there many years ago, and the Louvre for that matter. I'm quite jealous of your day, it sounds just perfect! xx

    1. Thank you Cate! It was a wonderful day indeed, though I'd love to visit all these museums without lingering jet lag one day so I can fully enjoy the experience without having to be fulled by lots of espresso.

  4. Oh my, so Parisien! It sort of thought that we would see more of your Burgundy attire in Paris, which would have been great. It hadn't occurred to me (doh!) that you'd have all the perfect looks for Paris! Just beautiful! K

  5. I think your hair looks gorgeous! Do you have plans to write about your setting techniques? Or, have you already done so, and I've missed it?

  6. I love the striped top! Things become cliche for a reason: because they just work so well.
