Though this fabric really leans blue in these photos, the print is actually soft grey and black gingham with little white and yellow daisys! I always promise myself I won't make dresses out of quilting cotton, as I don't really like the weight/texture and feel it doesn't stand up well to washing, but...here is a new dress made of quilting cotton! I just wish Joanns would carry some of their adorable quilting cotton prints in more apparel friendly fabrics like sateens or something! My mom chose the fabric actually, and I really love the resulting dress in the end. It feels so ridiculously 50s :)
I paired the dress with black accessories for its first wearing, including my new Malco Modes black petticoat. I think this dress will look really fresh in spring with all white accessories, and would look fun with yellow or red too. I love dresses that can be styled many different ways, I mean who doesn't really? The hat I have on here is one of my favorites, though really that isn't saying much as I just really adore most hats. I bought it back in 2013 for a steal and I actually picked up the necklace and earring set I'm wearing at the same general time. You can't go wrong investing in basic items like a black thermoset necklace and a floral cage hat, they will always be go-tos in a vintage wardrobe!

Oh, this is such a lovely look ~ I adore florals and gingham, and really, I can't resist a pretty quilting cotton, even if they don't always wear the best. They just get so many more pretty vintage style prints than regular dress fabrics seem too! ❤
