Sunday Spotlight: Fun & Fruity

I just finished the last few stitches of a lemon print dress, and I am so pleased to finally have a fruit print dress in my summer wardrobe! I happen to love lemon too, lemon drops, lemonade, lemon pie, I love it all! It must be because my mom is such a big lemon fan, I picked up the taste for lemon from her <3 I also have a taste for lemon prints, so I was super pleased when Gertie of Gerties Blog for Better Sewing released a wonderful lemons on black cotton sateen fabric in her latest Joann fabrics line! I snapped up a few yards real quick to finally make a fruity summer dress for myself, but it seems fruit was indeed a popular choice back in the mid 20th century so lets gaze admiringly over some vintage examples while we dream of tasty summer fruit salads...

  1. Such dreamily beautiful fruit prints! I love, love, love citrus (and fruit in general) themed fashions, yet a lemon or orange one has continually eluded me for years now. Even with the assorted repro offerings, I can never seem to get to them in my size in time. Oh well, it's important to have fashion unicorns. :)

Thanks for these fabulously inspiration images!

    1. It is surprisingly hard to find a good lemon dress! That's why I had to break down and make one myself this year. I hope a fun citrus item is in your near future! ;)

  2. You have picked some stunners! I would happily take all of these. I have a tropical fruit print skirt that I really must get an outfit post done on.

    1. I'd take one of each too! If only we could still shop vintage catalogs or something ;)
