Disneyland Forever

Ah Disneyland, hands down one of my very favorite places to be. They weren't making it easy on me this trip however, the lines were out of control! After over an hour wait just to buy tickets to get inside, I was already taking a deep breath to steady myself for a very congested day at the park. Whew! The weather was perfect and the rides and ambiance just as marvelous as ever, but to put it frankly, I feel I need to go back again as I just didn't get to go on as many rides as I would have liked. The moral of the story is, don't go to the park during spring break, you will regret it when the line for Space Mountain is at 120 minutes all day! (If you are saying "well then what were you thinking?" this was the only week I could plan for my California trip as my amazing traveling companion was on a school based schedule). One of my friends has already suggested a Disneyland trip sometime in September and I am deeply tempted...I really do love Disneyland you guys!

Crowds aside, you just can't beat lunch at the Blue Bayou with the colorful paper lanterns and delicious monte cristo sandwich, a ride through space on Star Tours, and savoring every wonderful detail Disney has put into the park. Disney really know how to put the theme in theme park, and I just love them for it. As you all know I love that Indiana Jones esk 1930's adventurer vibe so of course Adventureland is very close to my heart. My beloved Jungle Cruise is closed currently for renovations so this was my first trip to the park without riding on one of those wonderfully retro boats first thing. I can't wait to return soon and ride down the rivers once more, and then before we know it there will be a whole Star Wars land too! Goodness will I be queuing up then!

I made a new dress for the occasion, and scored some free Indiana Jones fastpasses from a kindly cast member who liked my "dapper" dress as he called it. Every day is dapper day as far as I am concerned! The dress is a lightweight cotton twill with a basic A-line skirt and the usual bodice I use for almost all of my dresses. Sorry about the wrinkles by the way, but you know, riding in doombuggies and a Pirate dinghy will do that to a skirt! A new sewing development is that I have conquered the lapped zipper and I like how much cleaner it looks compared to my frazzled centered zippers. I paired the dress with flat gold sandals for a day of walking and standing, a gold and tan belt, and a new leaf shaped celluloid brooch. The brooch is actually one of a set I look forward to wearing more once it warms up! I pinned back my hair with grip tuth combs and I can report this was a very sturdy and ride-proof hairstyle! I totally recommend grip tuth combs, they hold even my heavy thick hair really well. It was really fun to be a bit dressed up at the park and it is definitely something I will do now in the future. If only I got to visit more often! I need to win the lottery ;)

Oh my beloved Disneyland, may we meet again soon <3

  1. These are some seriously perfect backdrops for your lovely outfit! I've only been to Disneyland once - in China, and it was not very good in terms of the set design and aesthetic, definitely nothing this lovely! It sounds like no matter which Disney park you visit the wait times for rides are a real bummer, which is a shame - but judging from these photos it was still worth going for the awesome blog photos :D Also, I am impressed with your dedication to blogging and taking outfit photos during your vacation, I can never manage because I get too lazy :P I would really love to visit an American Disney park if I ever make it to the US, the ones in the US all look fantastic!

    1. Thanks Harlow! I am surprised to hear the Chinese Disney park is not up to Disney's regular standards. Here in the US they are known for their dedication to the upkeep and emersiveness of their parks. I have never been to Disney World in Flordia, but the California park is very committed to aesthetic and I am always delighted by just how themed everything is from the many dozens of different light fixtures to the specifically designed uniforms for the employees (cast members) in each land. I highly recommend a visit!

  4. Glad you had a great time at Disneyland - that's where I'll be (but in Florida) in two days time!! Your dress IS dapper and fantastic, and looks amazing in the photos you've taken. I particularly like the 18th Century-esque shots of Marie Antoinette's parfumerie and the windows with the flowers. :)

  5. Hear, hear!!! "Every day is dapper day" could easily be the motto of the many a vintage wearer the world over.

What a fabulously elegant dress (I swear, I've been stalking a few sites, including eBay, for a great solid hued brown vintage dress for weeks now - no dice, but I'm not giving up!) and super fun location. There really is something magical about Disneyland, isn't there? Even if one has never set foot there, you just sense that it's unlike just about anywhere else on earth.

    Tons of hugs,
    ♥ Jessica

    1. Thank you Jessica! I was so lucky to score just enough of this brown fabric in Joanns discount section to make this dress! I look forward to pairing it with other colors and accessories soon. I hope you can find what you are looking for! And indeed Disneyland is the best :)
