The Costumes of Agent Carter Season 2

First things first, no spoilers, I won't be alluding to plot lines or happenings so no worries there. Unless you consider a visual breakdown of Peggy's wardrobe a spoiler...in which case look away! (a few other characters make appearances in these photos, but again no plot so...you be the judge).

Our beloved Agent Carter is back on ABC, in fact the season finale (series finale? please no!) is next Tuesday already! In awful news-- they have aired two episodes back to back for the last two weeks, pushing the show out as if they want to be rid of it. I don't know why the ratings aren't where we fans need them to be!  Peggy is still as badass as ever, why can't more people tune in? This season has been great so far, a bit more superhero/special effects laden than I usually like in programs, but for Agent Carter I am always willing to make an exception. Plus more Agent Carter means more Peggy Carter, and Peggy isn't just a super efficient SSR agent- she's also rather stylish too. The more 1940's fashion in my life, the better.

So lets take a look at Peggy's wardrobe in season 2 so far...

Peggy loves a silk blouse! She's got quite the verity of them! She pairs them with dark colored A-line skirts and her favorite wide leg trousers (the better for kicking ass in). She seems to have a pair of trousers in burgundy, a rich teal-ish emerald green, and dark navy blue. She has a skirt in a navy and the same jewel toned dark green. Peggy is a big fan of color blocking and seems to mix and match her separates with ease. It's always nice when a costume department repeats clothing as if the character has a real wardrobe, more realistic even if us fashion lovers get a bit less to ogle over.

Peggy's dresses in season 2 have been color blocked all the way! And of course her favorite navy blue and red combo sees a lot of action. She has debuted three separate dresses in this same color scheme (there was one I couldn't find a good screencap of). I think the teal and purple number is my favorite. The red dress with the crossed low neckline is my least favorite because I find that neckline weird and a bit gratuitous. Also the red hat paired with that dress is so ruined by that sad blue bow that I can't forgive the ensemble. How much better would that hat be with a normal bow in grosgrain ribbon?

(edit: I have recently had it pointed out to me that for the scene at the races Peggy is undercover and therefore her costume is intended to be a bit over the top and more Hollywood than usual, which makes more sense)

Peggy still wears her more espionage ready jumpsuits too, one has to have practical clothing for work :)  Her dressing gown, like her dressing gown from season 1, is again black and peach and is super gorgeous!

I did notice in a recent episode Peggy had on Modcloth's The Zest Is History Heel in Navy. I own both the navy and the black colorways of these heels and can report they are quite comfortable! I may have to order a new black pair this summer as I have worn my black pair constantly and adore them enough that I want a back up ;) In this week's episodes (screencaps not yet available) she wore Chelsea Crew's gatsby two-tone 1920s t-straps in red and white which you can snag over at Royal Vintage Shoes. I did just that this past week and they have already arrived and are so so cute! I can't wait to wear them!

How about the other ladies on the show?

A new character Whitney Frost definitely has her own style and color schemes. She's seen most often in purple and deep burgundys and her costumes seem to lean forward towards fifties silhouettes. She has a pretty awesome Dior new look ensemble to wear the horse races!

Jarvis's lovely wife is introduced this season, played by the ever stunning Lottie Verbeek. Her costumes are the most fun and whimsical of the ladies on the show and have a more carefree feel. I especially loved the striped blouse above! She wears her hair extra cute too and I really hope if we get a season three she continues to appear.

No really, if we get a season 3... I have very little hope right now I am so sad to say. My greatest hope is that if ABC does cancel the show, Netflix will pick it up (as they already have a relationship with Marvel with Daredevil and Jessica Jones). That said, everyone make sure you tune into the series finale so we can get some strong finishing numbers! I want more Agent Carter!

  1. I watched the first episode of the first series but I really didn't like it and I am so gutted I didn't, because the costumes are so beautiful! I could almost watch it just for that, but not quite... So thank you for sharing the outfits so I don't have to ;)

    1. I am such a fan I can't imagine disliking the show! Perhaps try the second season instead? I'm happy to share Peg's style, I only wish I could share her closet, literally ;)

  2. She rocks the best blouses! Authentic and repro vintage blouses are one of the few areas where my closet does not overflow, so I think that draws me to them all the more.

Big hugs & happy tail end of February wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

    1. It can be surprisingly hard to find retro styled blouses, Peggy's look to be nice crepe de chine silk too! Big hugs in return my friend <3

  3. Peggy Carter forever!!! I just love her, and her outfits ~ and usually can't shut up about all the fabulous costuming right when the Mister is watching and really wants me to be quiet about x purse, or y dress... But that blue silk blouse! Oy, it's all gorgeous. How can I not rave?? ❤

    1. I totally agree! Plus she's actually curvy so I assume I could totally borrow her clothes :)

  4. If it's any comfort, there are two more episodes this season than there were last season, but they still have to shoehorn them all into the Agents of SHIELD midseason break. So that's probably why they're airing so many double episodes.

  5. Such fabulous outfits! That emerald green blouse is gorgeous! There seems to be a really great use of colour. I wouldn't mind that glamorous dressing gown either!
