Mood Designer Fabrics

Anyone who has ever watched an episode of Project Runway has heard of Mood Designer Fabrics, where the aspiring designers on the reality show go to buy fabrics for their projects. Though I haven't watched the show in years and years, I have remained aware of Mood, and have finally made my first purchase! Though I don't count myself as a Project Runway fan anymore, I still felt a bit of a thrill opening the box and seeing they had shipped my fabric in their classic black and gold Mood shopping bags.

I placed my first order after finally giving up trying to find either dark brown or dark navy blue cotton twills in my local area fabric shops. Though yes, I do already have both a navy and a brown pencil skirt, both are lighter shades of those colors and I have always wanted darker versions to match certain tops and hats I have. I took the plunge and ordered some organic cotton twill from Mood.

They are even darker in color in person and I am so happy with both shades! The color on the website was very close to the actual color of the fabrics when they arrived. I am really happy with the quality of the fabrics and I can't wait to get going on these two new pencil skirts. I also bought enough of the navy to make a little jacket to match the skirt. I am even thinking of getting a red fedora to rock a Peggy Carter influenced look!

When you buy yardage at Mood online you also "earn" free swatches so you can check out other fabrics. I chose some shades of both their silk georgette and silk crepe de chine to check out for possible blouse projects this for upcoming fall.

The shipping from Mood was super fast, I ordered on Wednesday morning and the fabrics arrived on Saturday. The fabrics are great quality, were competitively priced, and arrived safely packaged! I can highly recommend Mood for when you are looking for a specific fabric.

Now if I could just get some sewing time! Sadly, that's not in the cards until Wednesday at the earliest. I hope you all are having a great start to your week!

  1. Super cool! They are such an epic institution on the fashion scene in New York and the US in general. I'm not even a sewer, and I've always wanted to order from them! :)

Congrats on your new fabric and lovely swatches alike. Happy sewing!

    1. Thanks Jessica, one day I'll have to visit one of their shops in person!
