Agent Carter!

I am not a natural superhero/comics person, I don't make a point to see all of the many (like, too many right?) new superhero flicks that Hollywood keeps churning out, but I made an exception after seeing a few stills from Marvel's ABC TV show Agent Carter. First I rented Captain America, since I knew it took place before the TV show, and I quickly fell in love with Hayley Atwell's character Margret "Peggy" Carter. A kick ass, well respected secret agent, who just so happens to be a woman, set in the late 1940's? There was no way I was not going to love this show!

In post WWII New York, agent Carter is struggling to find her place in an office filled with men who think of her as more of a secretary than a fellow agent. She takes on a secret mission of her own, always several steps ahead of her male colleagues. Do yourself a favor and watch this series! There are only eight episodes in the first season, and they are available on Hulu and on Amazon. There will even be a second season, which for a female lead spy show is awesome!

Not only does Peggy kick ass and take names, she does it in red lipstick and impeccably tailored 40's suits! Seriously, this show has it all, including great fashion! I want all of Peggy's gorgeous silk blouses for next fall! If you have been looking for a new retro something to watch, make sure to check out Agent Carter!

  3. It's so interesting when new vintage related shows come on the scene. For years people (strangers mostly) would say things to me like "Ooohh, you look like you could be straight out of Mad Men (or Bomb Girls, etc)", now I'm getting the same comment with Agent Carter. Too funny! :)

    1. Too funny! I haven't had such comments, but I would certainly take them as quite the compliment. I don't just want to dress like Peggy Carter...I kinda wish I was Peggy Carter! She's just so awesome!

  4. I quite enjoyed Agent Carter. I'm also not normally a fan of the "superhero" genre either, but I thought they did a good job keeping an element of realism in Agent Carter. And the fashions were very lovely!

    1. I totally agree Kate. I enjoyed Daredevil (another Marvel series on Netflix) for the same reason, a bit less CGI craziness and more one on one drama. No cute 40's fashion in Daredevil though ;)
