new shoes! |
So here is the first wearable mock-up of my new kimono sleeve blouse pattern! I actually quite like it! There are a few tweaks still to be made, but in the 3 versions I have made since this one, I have worked out most of them. The blouse buttons up the back as closure, which has reminded me that I don't like machine made buttonholes. I am now on a quest to figure out how to do bound buttonholes, and also...to acquire the patience to do bound buttonholes.
In other news, these are my new white shoes! You may remember in this post, I featured these shoes. Well reader, I bought them! I figured I would check them out since they were so darn inexpensive. The cons? yes they do smell like glue/faux leather, pros? they fit great, don't hurt, and the faux leather is actually of relatively good quality. I really like them actually! I'm even considering buying a pair in another color and perhaps DIYing a pattern onto them with leather paint. Egyptian revival shoes anyone? It is still just an idea currently...but I am considering it!
The other new items in this outfit are the carved celluloid necklace and earrings! I am so excited about this set, expect to see a lot of it this spring/summer. Gotta love good old Etsy!

Ooohh, it's gorgeous!!! I love the blend of blue, red and green in that floral print. Great choice of styles and fabrics for your latest blouse creation (if you ever start a repro company, I'm sooo going to line up to buy from you!).

Thank you Jessica! This print has been hanging around in my stash of fabrics for a few years now, I bought it because it reminded my of William Morris wallpaper only in brighter colors. I dream of having a repro line someday, I just need to win the lottery first so I can afford to start it!
DeleteThe blouse looks great in that fabric and it is a really good shape. I can't believe that is only a first try!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kate! I modified my dress bodice pattern to get this blouse pattern so I had some idea that it would fit, and I promise if you saw an up close picture of the buttonholes down the back it would be easier to spot as a trial version!
