Jackets, Knitwear & Blouses : Cataloging Catalogs MW F/W 1947/48

Some more pages from the Fall/Winter 1947/1948 Montgomery Wards catalog! To say I would like to order a dozen sweaters and one of each item from page 144 would be a vast understatement. I want that leather jacket, I want it in both colors, I need a time machine and lots of '47 dollar you guys. I hope you enjoy these!

  1. I love seeing the catalog pictures. I always get so many ideas and it let's me know that my recent purchases are correct to the era I'm going for.

  2. I find the deep welts on some of the knitwear intriguing. Those twin sets are ace.

  3. I just love the winter, ski clothes. Ok, actually I just love all the clothes. It so happens that I'm a vintage umbrella collector/addict, so seeing the ad for them was a thrill for me.

  4. All these are so, so stylish.
I have to admit I'm a vintage umbrella collector/addict. So the ad for them are my favorites.
If I do any maintenance needed on the time machine, can I go with you, please?😊

  5. Nice, thanks for posting... I'm surprised there are copies of the catalogs in such good condition as they had a more utilitarian use in those times :)

  6. Bianca, if you knit, you CAN have sweaters like these! There is a treasure trove of free (Yes, FREE!!) vintage knitting patterns on the web. I will post the link to Purple Kitty (and you will go wild!), which has the largest collection. You can also make 1940s vintage handbags and hats! There are many generous bloggers on the web who also have a gold mine of vintage patterns for free. Have fun! :)

This pattern is more 1930s style, but take a look through the website. You won't be sorry!
