Westward Storms

Well the storm rolled in and blocked out all of the nice sunlight I had planned on! While the wind began to swirl and drops threatened to halt any photography, we managed to just sneak in some photos of this outfit. Unfortunately it is much more suited to sunlight, but what's a girl to do?

I made this fun teal linen/rayon blend skirt for my trip to California but never got to wear it. I paired it with an ivory peasant blouse with turquoise embroidery and some new turquoise and gold earrings I picked up recently from Etsy. I have a pretty floral blouse to sew that will match this skirt as well, but I've yet to start it! The teal is pretty bright for me but it can be good to branch out right? These ivory shoes have been the best purchase ever (they were on sale for $30 last fall) as it turns out they match everything. I am so happy to have them in both ivory and green!

This was the first try at curling my hair now that it's shorter and I just did it quickly with a curling iron. I liked how it turned out though, even if the wind wanted to tear my feeble set apart. Unfortunately those same winds are supposed to blow in a snow storm this weekend! I thought spring had arrived but it looks like we have more winter on the way. I am so over winter!

Skirt: Made by me

  1. I LOVE that blouse, I have been searching for something similar myself actually! These photos turned out wonderful and dramatic with the darker lighting from the storm and I love the shot you captured of the storm rolling in.

    1. Thank you Harlow! I am always searching for more blouses like this! I found this ivory one ages ago (maybe even back in high school?) at a discount chain called TJ Maxx and consider it a total lucky fluke. The only other similar blouse I have I found at Forever 21! So crazy to find such nice retro-ish blouses at very random stores.

    1. Thank you! I was hoping for sun, hence the springy ensemble, but the weather had other ideas!

  3. Very pretty outfit, and I love the slightly windswept nature of these photos, it looks great. Teal is one of my favourite colours but I don't wear it very often (just bought a pair of teal shoes though so that may change soon!). Pretty pretty blouse x

  4. What a fabulous outfit you look so glamourous, I think the moody lighting has added a wonderful femme fatale feel to these picture which I love! I am a real sucker for a peasant blouse (though I am still waiting to find the perfect one) and I love how you have matched it up with your teal skirt, its such a pretty colour!

  5. Gorgeous from curled looks to elegant heels. I really like your ethnic style blouse. I have a couple of that nature myself (one of which is vintage and from Greece originally) yet, oddly, seem to forget about them each sunny season and then come fall they seem woefully out of place, so I forget about them again. You've really inspired me to try and remember to not only wear, but photograph, at least one of them this spring or summer (thank you!).

    Many hugs,
    ♥ Jessica
