Spring Sewing Plans

As spring has partially sprung here in Colorado, it feels appropriate to start on spring (and summer-ish) sewing projects! I have quite a few fabrics already lined up to become new fun dresses. I may end up making a few tops and skirts too, but dresses are the main plan moving forward for this sewing season. I thought today I'd show you all some of the fabrics and projects I have coming up!

These first three fabrics will be two dresses and a button front blouse respectively. The top fabric has a crisp linen feel but is actually rayon and is destined to become a 1940's dress. The center fabric is a cotton sateen with a slight stretch I found at Joanns that will become a 1950's wiggle dress. The last fabric above is a quite sheer but will become a 1930's style button front blouse. I made a teal linen skirt recently that I think the blouse will match perfectly!

Then there are the rayon dresses, I have three planned! There were just too many great rayons at Joanns recently! Two will match my new black and purple straw hat (I can't wait to wear it!) and the third print (the navy and red roses) is just so vintage looking. I really can't wait to get started on these! The vintage dresses below show the kind of idea I have for these.

The two fabrics below will become a simple 40's dress and a fun languid 30's evening number. The navy and floral silky fabric was an impulse buy from the clearance table but I think it will looks super great as a 30s gown!

The last two below are destined to be another 1920s one hour dress and the liberty cotton (that I actually bought at Liberty of London way back in 2012...) will be another 1930s blouse.

Florals, for spring? Groundbreaking. I know. I do love me some florals! I really can't wait to get started on these projects, but first I have to finish reorganizing my sewing room! Everything is still such a mess, but I know soon enough the space is going to be better than ever and I'll share the results as soon as its finished :)

Big hugs & joyful April wishes,
