Obtainer of Rare Antiquities

Of the vintage accessory variety at least :) I suppose I don't possess any another other kind of antiquity yet, one day perhaps.

Can't beat the options for summery scenery in southern California, I mean look at that tropical foliage! It felt like I had just stepped into an Indiana Jones film, and it was a fun feeling to have indeed! The tree roots were amazing, undulating over the ground like great big ribbons. Vines encircled the tree trunks and the towering palms shimmered in the sunlight above. This lush backdrop is accessible to all, no snake infested tiny plane rides required, as it is the beautiful Palm Canyon garden at San Diego's Balboa Park. Have I mentioned lately that I love Balboa Park? I just really love Balboa Park.

I wore my new red twill skirt and a vintage tan silk blouse for a jaunt through the mini jungle. The elephant brooch was an inevitable purchase as I had seen many of them on Etsy over the past year and knew I had to have one eventually. My tooled leather clutch and two-toned Chelsea Crew heels both reappear once again, I fear you will be seeing a lot of both this summer! This poor clutch though, it was practically pristine when I got it and after using it just a few days on my California trip the thin leather that whip-stitches around the edges is already coming apart at the corners! I'll have to see how much I can stabilize the problem areas with some clever gluing. I really love the bag so I want it to last!

You didn't think I was done posting California photos did you? I still have a few more up my sleeve, and it's a good thing too as Colorado had another blizzard this weekend and the world outside is covered in over a foot of snow again! Spring is supposed to return later in the next week but all this crazy weather has me totally thrown. At least I was able to get a little sewing in this weekend so that when spring does return I'll have a new dress to wear. Hope everyone has a great start to the week!

  3. Hand on my heart, I've thought about using that very line for a blog post title before (great minds!). So love that you did it here. It suits your awesome lady explorer ensemble - and deeply cool vintage brooch - superbly.

    Big hugs,
