Savoy Fair

Fun Sunday activity suggestions: Get very dressed up in 1920's finery purely as an excuse to wear your new shoes! No? Well it was a nice little break from a weekend spent sewing, sewing, and more sewing. I still have two more projects I want to finish before I leave for California next week! So soon! Disneyland I'm coming for you <3

If you love the idea of beautifully accurate looking beaded shoes (and who doesn't?) run and snatch yourself a pair of Savoys from American Duchess before they're all gone! They're on sale, which may mean they will be discontinued? I'm not sure, but in the off chance it does, I had to have a pair. Of course the heel on these are minuscule for me, but accurate and comfortable. I happen to be in the minority who like retro shoes in a mid heel height, higher than this mini heel but lower than the 4+ tower heights we see today. Mostly I like the height as it helps my large feet look at least a bit smaller! Still who can resist beaded shoes? As someone who has worked with very similar styles in museum collections, I can attest to just how accurate these Savoys look. The quality is just superb, I can't believe it has taken me so long to invest in a pair of American Duchess shoes! I will be going back for more soon I assure you!

I hope you've all had a lovely weekend! It's back to work for me today, ever more sewing once again :)

Update: I forgot to tell you all about this hair comb! I got it for a song as the one tine is already broken and the celluloid is deteriorating a bit already (its bad when it goes cloudy like that). Still, a peacock feather motif comb? Amazing! I can't pass these things up :)

  2. I cannot remember seeing this dress before, but it's so lovely - and you got the suffragette colours of purple and green in too. The shoes are absolutely divine, and I reckon they look even better with fishnets than they would with sheers. Perfect. And then the comb...! Karen x

    1. Thank you! The dress was one of my first 20's dresses I made way back in 2013 and has sort-of appeared before (way back in 2013) back before I even did outfit posts! I can't believe I didn't recognize I was sporting suffragette colors, thanks for pointing it out, how accidentally topical here on international women's day :)

  3. This dress is a stunner! And American Dutchess' shoes are beyond fabulous. I still have yet to snag myself a pair though.

  4. Oh gosh those shoes!! They're a thing of beauty. I too like a mid heel and it is hard to find in a non-clumpy style, for the past few years we've had those block heels in fashion mainstream that are like hooves! I am wearing one of my only pair of mid-heels today and they're so comfortable but still look elegant with my dress for the office. I bet you felt like a QUEEN in that outfit! Spectacular xx

  6. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! This is just so, so divine, you look beautiful. I have been in love with these shoes for so long and if it wasn't for the international shipping cost ($100 for two pairs of shoes...) I would have got myself a pair of these and the cream ones as well! They truly are a work of art and really do look like you went back in time and nabbed them from a fabulous boutique. I also really love your purse and necklace, if you ever decide to make purses and necklaces for your Etsy please let me know. Just love every part your outfit and this post!

    1. Aw thank you Harlow! I'm so sorry to hear that shipping rates to Australia are so super crazy, they just raised the US postal rates again last month too! I did do a DIY for this little purse ages ago so perhaps I'll add that link above (it's still on my diys/tutorials page). I have tried selling some of my necklaces on Etsy before but it never really took off, perhaps I will start making more of them again as I really miss beading as it's so relaxing. So many crafts, so little time :)
