Straw, Navy, and Blue

Well, I have been quite MIA haven't I? Not only was I working all weekend, but I spend Friday with friends and going to the theater! Before I knew it, I hadn't posted in days! I'm happily back on track now, and happy to show you all the finished version of the blouse project that had been giving me trouble.

This blouse was inspired by the character Elsa Schneider from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The collar and sleeves are similar to those of her silk blouse from the German castle scene. I'd love to make one in silk like the blouse in the film someday! I still have some fixes to make to this blouse pattern, fixing the back of the collar a bit, lengthening the sleeves, adding a bit more ease through the bust and waist. Still, I can't help but love the billowy bishop sleeves!

I picked up this vintage straw hat from Etsy a few weeks ago and it has been waiting for an outfit to match. I love the delicate navy veiling, there is always something so fun about a full veil like this one!

Now I have to get going on today's sewing, I am finally working on my bustle gown!

    1. Thank you Jessica! I am actually going to be making a darker navy blue skirt soon, as sometimes I find this one too bright! It will be nice to have a darker navy to wear into next fall.

    1. Thank you Bonita! I can defiantly vouch for adding navy to one's wardrobe, I used to be a black only person, but adding navy has really freshened up my closet. I am slowly learning to add more solids to my wardrobe after sticking with prints for so long, I needed something to pair with all of the prints after a while!
