50's and Flowers: an Outfit at the Gardens

Following this blog you would think I spend nearly every weekend at the Denver Botanic Gardens, and it's true enough I am always visiting! I just love that place! Gorgeous flowers, just a beautiful place to spend an afternoon. My parents and I nipped down there on Saturday as I knew the peonies would be blooming and I didn't want to miss them! Little did I know that the oriental poppies were in full bloom too and were just amazing to see. The delicate tissue like petals in riotous colors were stunning! They matched the mini poppies on my hat :)

Hat: Vintage (TheHatMuseum on Etsy)
Top: Banana Republic Factory Store
Skirt: Self Made (the other of the two I told you I made ages ago)
Shoes: Payless
Belt: Vintage, Savers
Necklace: Vintage, Etsy

Such beautiful blooms! I couldn't shut up about how pretty they were while we were walking around the gardens, and now I still can't! Someone at my internship must have peonies in their garden because there were fresh blooms in the office today. Peonies are my favorite flower so this is a good time of year for me.

Not only were the plants pretty on Saturday but the soon to be opened Dale Chihuly exhibit (glass works peppered throughout the gardens!) was already installed, even though it hadn't officially opened yet! Chihuly is one of my favorite living artists so you can imagine how pleased I was that an exhibit was happening this summer here in Denver, and then as a bonus I got to see it early without the crowds! But more on the artwork later this week, until then ciao!

    1. Thank you! I was so glad to finally have the perfect place to wear the hat! I didn't know the little silk poppies would match the real ones in bloom so well on the day :)
