Blouse Pattern Progress

I have been incredibly busy lately! I wish I had more time for sewing! On Friday I started my project to use up my stash of fabric by making a whole bunch of blouses, but since then I have been busy at work and visiting a friend in the hospital after he took a tumble from his mountain bike! (luckily he is going to be fine) I really want to get sewing again after this little unplanned hiatus.

The colorful blouse in these photos is the first of two I plan to copy to paper and recreate in new fabrics. I really love the fit and versatility of this blouse, and luckily the pattern was very easy to copy! I think we all know knock-offs are bad, but when you find something you love I think it is more than fair to copy it for your own personal use. Selling the resulting clothing or pattern would be wrong, but for filling out your own wardrobe I think its okay. All I had to do with this top was to measure and trace the outline because it is just so simple in design. The top has very little shaping, it isn't even cut on the bias, but looks great both with dress pants or tucked into a pencil skirt. I am testing my new pattern in a semi-sheer black and white poly chiffon to check the pattern works and then I will dive into some silk!

  1. Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's accident. Thank goodness that he's going to be alright.

I love that the weather is conducive to wearing short sleeved blouses like this again, Hurrah! :)
