Wear it Again Sam

You know, just a little something I picked up recently...a perfect 1940's suit, no big deal.

I mean WHAT! How can it be possible that this beauty was just waiting for me up in Fort Collins? This past fall and winter you have put up with me going on and on about wanting 40's suits, and finally I can shut up about them, because I have one! (Two actually, but you have to wait till next week for the other one!!!) The detailing, the built in shoulder pads, the perfect tan/brown wool, and the most delightful covered buttons! I think I'm in love.

The fact that I snagged this suit for under 80 dollars helps too, especially when it is in super great condition and FITS PERFECTLY! ....I'm never going to get over the awesomeness of this find. I hadn't even planned on going into old town FoCo that day, I only went down to get some photos and decided randomly to pop into the great vintage shop Wear It Again Sam. Thank goodness I decided to take a quick look as this suit was just waiting for me on the rack <3

For it's inaugural wearing last weekend I paired the #newsuit with burgundy for a cool February day. The leather clutch was a Savers find ages ago back in high school and I found the burgundy silk scarf at the same location years later for .99 cents. The heels are old t-straps from Target that have sadly seen better days, these were the best T-straps ever (you may have noticed I also have them in black but they are falling apart). My hair here definitely did not come how how I had planned as I meant to put the front half up and leave the back down. With it all up like this I think it's much too matronly, but oh well! I was trying to go for an Ava Gardner esk half up do, like in this photo, but clearly I need more practice!

This amazing suit is now one of the only pieces of real vintage clothing I own (I'm a DIY repro gal as you all know). As it can be hard to find vintage in my size, this suit is a dream status find!

  1. I love the way the suit is a canvas for the lovely burgundy notes. I am not sure how you manage it, but you have pulled off such a classic look again! Kx

    1. Thank you! The nice thing about the color of this suit is that any accent color will work really, but I was feeling burgundy on the day :)
