Rusted Roses

I have never seen a real 1920's dress with a print even vaguely similar to this riotous rose bonanza, nonetheless I still quite like this dress! It is the autumn hued cousin of the more spring coloered pastel floral 20's frock I made earlier this summer (seen here). I am deeply in love with all rusty orange colors and so I immediately added this fabric to my pile while shopping at my local fabric shop's bargain table. I feel like these colors are perfect for the transition from summer to fall.

Not that there is any hint of the coming fall in our weather this week, it was exactly 92 degrees as I was out taking these photographs! Thankfully I was in a fully air conditioned store all morning working and it felt a bit freeing to be outside even if it was hot. This dress is another "one hour" 20's dress, I have a growing collection of them now! They are just so easy to wear, and easy to make, a perfect combination! I paired it with my old (slightly beaten up these days) gold and black t straps, black and gold beaded necklaces, and finger waves. I was wishing I had a fun cloche to pair with this dress. I am getting ever closer to investing in a basic rounded hat block in my head-size so that I can start making cloche hats! I am in the middle of a few hat projects, yesterday's pillbox is just one of the few I have planned. The second had me painting faux berries and I will tell you all about it soon :)

  1. Yes, oh my word, yes to everything here. The bold hues, the elegant sunnies, the mingling of wilderness and fashion. It's gorgeous and worthy of a magazine spread.

    1. Thank you Jessica! This location is across the parking lot from the historic mansion I always take photos at, but as there was a wedding going on we ended up sorta winging it!
