Forest for the Trees

I have had this hat for months, I was stuck trying to figure out an outfit to wear it with! The dark brown color was surprisingly hard to pair with the pieces in my closet, motivating me to buy this espresso brown twill from Mood to finally have a skirt to match! I made this blouse months ago too, back in my blouse making madness. The fabric is a Liberty print voile that I bought at Liberty of London from their remnant bin back in 2012. The jungle print caught my eye straight away, I bought another remnant in the blue colorway as well. This blouse too was an odd color brown and was hard to match with anything but this dark brown skirt! Finally I can wear both pieces thanks to this skirt!

The blouse is my same basic kimono sleeve pattern with buttons down the back. The skirt is my typical pencil skirt pattern. It is amazing that I still struggle with zippers (mine are never perfect!) after making so many pencil skirts!

Expect to see this fabric again soon, though next time it will be blue!

  1. Great hat! I love the design with the short crown. The braided ribbon is a beautiful enhancement. The dark coco pencil skirt is a great color. You look fabulous!

  3. I love Liberty fabric but rarely have any due to the expense! This has made a lovely blouse.

    1. I know what you mean, it is so crazy expensive! I got this print in their remnants bin for 11 pounds, I got this color and another remnant of the same print in a blue colorway. Everything in the remnant pile was cut to 1 meter lengths. I only ever bought 1 meter from there at full price, and I am almost scared to use it! Still, I wandered the haberdashery department often browsing for fun, I adore Liberties, I could live in that shop it is so gorgeous and full of wonderful things. The flowers outside too! And the chocolate room! Now that I have thought back I miss London again...*sigh*
