All I can say (almost) is Wow! I know now wh...Wow!! All I can say (almost) is Wow! I know now why I love 40's fashions for women now. And why I had such fun with my dresses for the office jobs I held for several years in the 80's - there was a 40's revival in women's fashions then, and it just fed into a fascination I didn't even know I was going to have yet! Pretty shirtwaists dress styles, big collars, jacket dresses, and those wonderful, figure slimming shoulder pads for us "hippier" ladies! Shoulder pads are marvelous for balancing out uneven contours, especially in terms of pear shaped figures. Shoes were great, and those new style lower cut-out heels were the bomb!

I actually developed my abiding fascination for all things 40's at that time, starting with stumbling across a local independent radio station that focused on nothing but Big Band Swing! But, I have to wonder now how much my wardrobe served to awaken that as well?

I found your blog through a Pinterest pin, and I think it's going to be my new favorite! And, oh, thank you SO much for encouraging us to save and Pin your images! I was wondering about that as I cruised through all these beautiful images, and found my reward at the bottom of the page. I have multiple boards devoted to all sorts of 40's themes, and I assure you they will be getting a fresh infusion of inspiration today, and tomorrow, and the next day.....

Bless you for doing all this work!! I know how much is involved, and it's ever so time consuming.

May I ask a favor as well? 1940's jewelry is a personal favorite of mine - particularly 40's wedding rings and sets. Perhaps if you haven't already, might you consider doing a blog page or two on early to mid-40's wedding styles in regards to the different dresses that were worn, like the dressy suits, and very nice suit dresses, one piece dresses, since the traditional long white gowns weren't as available, or suitable for so many, and tie in a few pages of rings to go with them? That would be wonderful, and I would be so grateful!

I have purchased a couple of vintage catalogs like this one on ebay, but lost the bidding on a few others, unfortunately. My husband was also becoming somewhat curious as to just what I was going to do with them all, once I had spent the money on them, and read through them once!

So, I figured the better part of valour, as it were, was to try and find what I could online. And I found you! What a coup!
Blessings for a wonderful Spring!!
Best Regards -
Shari D Sharid57https://www.blogger.com/profile/16389863577485519939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3482142516265173452.post-78599094483731297722017-05-01T11:32:53.667-06:002017-05-01T11:32:53.667-06:00I know! They look so fresh-faced and young too, wearing far less makeup than before the '50s hits and all the models suddenly look uber-glam and womanly.

I could go for a white eyelet dress too.Porcelinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02202283149145094340noreply@blogger.com
