In Technicolor

This dress is certainly one of the most colorful I own! I bought the fabric from an Indian textiles shop on Etsy that no longer exists, which is a shame because they had amazing cottons! This fabric turned out to be thicker than I'd thought it would be, so I ended up making a dress instead of the blouse I had originally planned. The neckline came out a smidgen too low, but other than that it is a summer favorite!

This hat was another fun find from over the past winter. I buy all the straw hats out of season, oops! I love it's jaunty little shape and dramatic veiling, after all who doesn't love some dramatic veiling. The handbag is my beloved black plastiflex vintage bag and the t-straps are from Modcloth. The red belt and red celluloid jewelry were found on Etsy. This dress gives me a lot of options when it comes to accessorizing with all the colors, one day I could try it with all yellow or green accessories. I do love prints, so much so that I have challenged myself this year to sew with more solids!

These photos were taken before I cut my hair, but you will all be seeing my shorter hair soon (I bobbed it!). Styling is so easy on my new length, so much so that I have to say- if you are having trouble with vintage hair styling, try going a bit shorter. There is a reason the ladies of the 30's-50's often had shorter haircuts, they are much easier to style into vintage styles!

I hope you have all had a lovely week, I can't wait for the weekend to arrive so I can get started making an Edwardian shirtwaist pattern <3

  4. Epic love for this vibrant, gleefully pretty outfit. From the punchy hues of your dress to the great black hat (which, coincidentally, I have one that looks relatively similar to - vintage hat twinsies! :)) to the chic red jewelry, it's all so very, very stunning!

    1. Thank you Jessica! I always think it's awesome when vintage twin items are discovered. Hannah of Giltriddengal and I have the same exact navy blue straw tilt hat too, we discovered one day via instagram :)
